Description
A Romantic-era guitar made in Mirecourt around 1870, bearing a brand mark by Mareschal Mathieu on the back. Spruce top, soundhole rosette with a floral mother-of-pearl inlay, rosewood back and sides with internal lining, ebony fingerboard and bridge, headstock with attractive tuning machines. Scale length: 618 mm; nut width: 45 mm. Old traces of restoration visible on the bridge, two cracks that have been glued back together at the bottom of the sides, as well as several cracks in the back veneer reinforced by dowels inside the body. Small areas of veneer missing from the head. One fret is missing. Impact marks on the varnish of the top; signs of wear on a case.
