A Romantic-era guitar by AUBRY MAIRE, made in Mirecourt around 1830; bearing a label from Charles Gand, a luthier in Laval, and an Aubry Maire brand mark. Solid flanks and neck in mottled maple; back in mottled maple veneered over spruce; top in spruce, edged with alternating purfling and featuring, at its centre, a mother-of-pearl rosette engraved with floral motifs. Non-original bridge, screwed into the top; non-original bridge backplate. Spacing at the nut: 43 mm; scale length: 624 mm. Cracks and several signs of woodworm on the sides and back; modified head; back detached from the sides and back. In need of restoration
