Description
PLEYEL - A rare model of a grand piano in lacquered wood, produced by PLEYEL, probably for a World’s Fair. It features rich polychrome painted decoration: on the lid, angelic musicians, musical instrument trophies, garlands of flowers and architectural motifs; on the inside of the lid, a courtly scene in the style of Watteau. In good overall condition, despite some signs of wear. A comparable model is held in the Gaveau-Érard-Pleyel collection, owned by the AXA Group and housed at the Centre Sébastien Érard – Association Ad Libitum: https://www.sebastienerard.org/en/?d=d2009162&m=iconographie. 24 x 56.5 x 36 cm
