A BESSON-brand cornet, Paris, no. 3924, from the second half of the 19th century, with four Périnet valves. The fourth valve, which is offset, raises the pitch by one tone. The slides of the first and third pistons are graduated, allowing them to be tuned to any note between C and G; made of brass, stamped ‘Besson’, 7 Rue des Trois Couronnes, Paris. Signs of wear.
