Description
An exceptional GIBSON solid-body electric guitar, Les Paul Custom model, serial number 7 7122, from 1957, made in the USA, first year of production, 3 pickups, Ebony finish. Entirely original, including the nut and frets, with original hardware: Kluson waffle-back tuning machines with their original single-ring tulip-style knobs, stoptail tailpiece, ABR1 no-wire Tune-o-matic bridge and strap buttons, as well as its plastic parts, including four bell knobs, jack plate, pickup rings, truss rod cover, pickguard, toggle switch knob, electronics cavity plates
and toggle switch plate. Featuring three humbucker pickups bearing their ‘Patent Applied For’ (PAF) labels, gold-plated. Original wiring configuration: position one is the neck pickup, position two is the middle and bridge pickups, and position three is the bridge pickup. Bridge pickup resistance: 7.36K, middle pickup resistance: 7.53K, neck pickup resistance: 7.33K. The following is marked on the four potentiometers: 134734 (CentraLab, 34th week of 1957); two original Cornell Dubilier tone capacitors. Weight: 4 kg 227. Two ground solder joints on the volume potentiometer covers appear to have been reworked; the G-string tuning machine is slightly warped; there is a 2 mm indentation from the strap button on the underside of the guitar body. At the junction between the neck and the headstock, there is an old repair extending from the lower fixing screw of the low E tuning machine to the base of the high E tuning machine; it is stable but visible, with chipped varnish. Signs of wear and impact marks, with small chips in the varnish. The electronics have been tested and are in working order. Purchased in London in the 1960s by the current owner. In very fine original condition and well preserved. Comes in a period case, with a leather strap.
