An exceptional violin by Pierre-Charles Jacquot (1828–1900), made in Nancy in 1888, bearing his label, his brand marks on the inside at the four corners of the back, and the handwritten inscription ‘XZ année 1888’ on the inside. The back is adorned with the polychrome coat of arms of the city of Nancy; the eight corners of the instrument also feature polychrome and gold decoration. Two-piece back, 357mm. Very fine condition
Sold in a modern case with a hygrometer, and a modern pernambuco bow (weight 62 grs)
