A virginal by Alain Moysan, harpsichord maker, a copy based on a model by Joannès Couchet (or Ruckers). This model is sought after by musicians and students for its rich Flemish tone and its versatility across the Baroque repertoire. The range of just over 4 octaves is typical of instruments from the Baroque period. It allows the player to perform a large part of the repertoire written for the virginal and harpsichord in the 17th and 18th centuries, including pieces by Sweelinck, amongst others.
