The bold polychrome design of scrolling tendrils and stylised floral motifs on this textile bears a striking resemblance to Ottoman embroidery, particularly the embroidered furnishings of the Greek islands. However, its technique and probable function, belong to a documented Spanish tradition. A similar silk-appliqué linen bed-front from Salamanca, dating to the 17th century, is in the Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares, Seville (inv. no. DE00991B).
