Founded by Thomas Fontana in 1840, the Fontana House made a name for itself at the end of the 19th century under the impetus of Charles André Fontana. At the beginning of the 20th century, Fontana became an integral part of the Art Deco movement, developing a style characterised by geometric elegance, sober lines and refined materials. Fontana creations reflect this desire to transform everyday objects into works of art, combining functionality with jewellery finesse. This cigarette case is a perfect illustration of the aesthetic quest of the Art Deco period. The case highlights the use of platinum, white gold and onyx, emblematic materials of the period. The smooth surfaces and balanced lines reflect the stylistic language of the 1910s. With this creation, Fontana expresses the spirit of the decorative arts of the early 20th century.
