Description
BUCCELLATI ‘Tulle’ brooch Round brilliant-cut and eight-eight-cut diamonds 18k gold (750) Signed Buccellati, circa 1940–50 M. Buccellati case Dimensions: approx. 4.2 x 3.5 cm – Weight: 11.4 g A diamond and gold brooch, signed Buccellati Description: Introduced by the house’s founder, Mario Buccellati, as early as the 1920s, the ‘Tulle’—which takes its name from the fabric—is a unique goldsmithing technique whose delicacy and precision quickly established the jeweller’s reputation. Sometimes compared to a honeycomb pattern, Buccellati’s ‘Tulle’ features irregular polygonal openwork, over which gemstones or motifs may be superimposed, such as the foliage pattern inspired by Venetian lace. The result of many hours of work, each piece in the ‘Tulle’ collection is meticulously crafted by hand using centuries-old expertise.
