Description:
A Cartier brooch for the Terestchenko family
In 1870, Emperor Alexander II ennobled the long-established Ukrainian Terestchenko family in recognition of their exceptional commitment to philanthropy and their philosophy of ‘Стремлением к общественным пользам ’ (Our efforts for the public or the desire to act for the common good).
At the centre of this brooch, bearing the family coat of arms, is a golden sheaf of wheat – a symbol of prosperity and generosity – supported by the paw of an onyx lion resting on a ducal crown, crafted in gold and diamonds, which was bestowed upon them at the time of their ennoblement.
The renowned House of Cartier has masterfully enhanced the family’s emblems by creating this jewel of incomparable elegance, a testament to its history.
