Description
Art Deco period piece A 585‰ yellow gold clip-on lapel brooch, unhallmarked, featuring a step-cut rock crystal and centred with a row of calibrated Madeira citrines. Pins in 585‰ yellow gold. Dimensions: 3 x 2.6 cm. Gross weight: 10.2 g. (Chips and missing material, stress cracks, oxidation). Accompanied by a Cartier New York case in red morocco leather, gilded with small ironwork. Our cufflink, with its geometric shapes and adorned with Madeira citrines, is reminiscent of Cartier’s creations from the 1930s. It naturally brings to mind the tiara created by Cartier London for the coronation of George VI in 1937 and is also reminiscent of bracelets, cufflinks and other jewellery crafted in this style during the same period.
