Particularly active in the 1970s for Van Cleef & Arpels, the JANCA workshop also produced jewellery pieces for Fred and Piaget. Its creations are distinguished by the use of decorative stones in a variety of colours, such as chrysoprase, tiger’s eye quartz, coral, onyx and turquoise, and by its work on the textures of metals. Animal motifs feature prominently in his designs. The iconic ‘Papillons’ from the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique were, in particular, crafted by the Janca workshop.
