*Subject to verification. Buccellati has built its reputation in particular on its mastery of jewellery craftsmanship and, more specifically, on its work in engraving and the texturing of precious metals. The ‘segrinato’ technique, in particular, is an engraving method developed by the House as early as the 1930s and 1940s. It involves using a chisel to engrave lines that intersect and overlap in different directions, giving the finished piece a velvety, silky appearance. It has been used in silverware and jewellery, particularly for naturalistic motifs.
