A French painter of the Lyon School, Jacomin was a landscape artist of the highest calibre, a pupil of Gustave Courbet and deeply influenced by the Barbizon School. Particularly renowned for his landscapes of the Lyon and Dauphiné countryside—meadows, forest edges and stormy skies—rendered with a great freedom of brushwork and a deep, luminous palette, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and his works are held in several French museums.
