View of the village of Cagnes-sur-Mer and the Baou de Saint-Jeannet
Sketch, oil on canvas mounted on board. This plein air study is painted from an elevated vantage point, taking in the hinterland of Cagnes. In the foreground, the southern vegetation is enlivened by a bush or tree in vibrant yellow-orange hues, catching the sunlight. Below, in the hollow of the valley, a cluster of houses with red-tiled roofs can be made out, representing the village.
