ANTIQUE PICKAXES AND WROUGHT IRON TOOLS The wrought-iron rock pick, with a curved point on one side and a flat blade on the other, is fitted to its original wooden handle; the iron has a characteristic dark patina with signs of wear on both the point and the blade, indicating prolonged use. The tool, probably a carpenter’s tool, is made of wrought iron; the broad trapezium-shaped blade is mounted perpendicular to a short wooden handle, the iron displaying a dark patina and a pitted surface with traces of surface oxidation.
