Description
SMALL LOUIS XVI-STYLE SLOPING ‘DONKEY’S BACK’ DESK Furnished with rosewood veneer and strips of light and stained wood, inlaid with butterfly wings; the sloping top panel simulates, on the front, two doors with herringbone-inlaid panels set within ornate frames, and opens at the base via a large drawer running along the lower edge. The piece rests on four curved legs, fitted with chiselled bronze fittings; it features two keyholes on the top, two foliage-decorated pull handles on the drawer and small glides on the front legs. The interior conceals small drawers and storage compartments. France, late 18th to early 19th century, showing signs of wear. Dimensions: 102 x 60 x 41 cm
