A painter, engraver and sculptor born in 1921 in the French Protectorate of Annam in Vietnam, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse.
Nature was a constant theme in his work, with water being one of its essential elements. The horse was one of the artist’s most frequently used themes.
From 1955 onwards, his works were recognised by art critics.
Mr Maestroni, then director of the Cézanne Gallery, organised his first exhibition in Cannes in October 1956. Two further exhibitions followed, at the same gallery, in 1957 and 1958.
Having fallen in love with the artist’s work, the great-grandfather of the current owners acquired all the works featured in our sale at the Galerie Cézanne in Cannes.
Naturalised as a French citizen in 1980, LEBADANG passed away, aged 94, on 7 March 2015 in Paris.
The Cernuschi Museum (Museum of Asian Arts of the City of Paris) holds, following a donation by his wife, a collection of works in the field of printmaking.
