Description
BURMA, second half of the 20th century. A Buddha head adorned with a diadem decorated with rosettes and crowned with an inverted spinning-top-shaped flame, typical of Burma. The downcast gaze turns inwards, whilst the long ears symbolise the Buddha’s renunciation of the heavy, precious earrings he wore during his princely youth. Gilded and painted lacquer, green, white and red glass beads. Height: 190 cm.
