Description
A luxurious sabre for a light cavalry officer. Handle in chiselled brass and ebony. Pommel with a Marengo-style crook-shaped skirt. Flat crossguard, connecting the elliptical cross-guard to the curved quillon. Tapered shaft in chequered ebony (fel). Curved, hollow-ground blade, the upper third of which is embellished with brass inlays depicting a cartouche with Kabbalistic symbols. Brass scabbard with two bands and suspension rings. It is finely chiselled with a floral design and gilded. France, Consulate and Empire periods.
