Description

BATLEY, William (1846–1932). Aesthetic Movement. A rare collector’s cabinet in blackened wood, carved with geometric friezes and floral motifs. It features a gallery in the upper section adorned with three mirrors, allowing the objects to be viewed from all angles, as well as four niches in the lower section and one at the very top. The central door is adorned with a metal medallion depicting Hercules slaying the Nemean lion. This cabinet is similar to the one held at Knightshayes Court in Devon. England, c. 1875. Dimensions: Height 201 cm, Width 136 cm, Depth 45 cm.
