Persia. First half of the 20th century.
High-quality, silky wool pile on a cotton backing.
Beautifully fine. Density: approx. 7,500–8,000 knots per dm²
An oblong ivory field, featuring arabesques, is covered with flowering scrolls in polychrome volutes, as well as baluster vases, and centres on a medallion in a ruby-coloured, multi-lobed mandorla, marine blue and ivory, adorned with floral interlacing and its arrow-shaped pendants. Four beautiful, small, undulating turquoise spandrels enclose the whole. The main cherry-coloured border features a succession of open corollas resting on floral stems. It is flanked by two navy blue counter-borders with garlands of small flowers. The ivory highlights also feature small flowers. Sublime design and an exceptional colour palette.
