Description
Rare and antique ISPAHAN carpet
Persia. 18th century.
Wool pile on a cotton backing.
An old gold field serves as the backdrop to a Garden of Eden. Magnificent lotus flowers frame a delicate, varied and polychrome floral interlacing, at the centre of which stand two vases filled with flowers. Deer, big cats and reptiles enliven this paradisiacal scene. Two cherry-coloured outer borders featuring small florets frame the main sky-blue border, which is adorned with a profusion of exuberant multicoloured flowers.
