Wool pile on a cotton backing.
An oblong ivory field featuring arabesques, covered with multicoloured floral stems, features a magnificent anthracite-coloured, multi-lobed lozenge composition, enhanced by a polychrome floral medallion. Four wine-red spandrels, adorned with foliage and scrolls, frame the whole. Two ivory counter-borders featuring garlands of small flowers flank the main border, which features a garland of polychrome floral scrolls. Positive/negative highlights in a chess-piece pattern. A fine example of originality.
