Antique and original TEHRAN (Persian) carpet,
circa 1930.
High-quality, silky wool pile on a cotton backing.
The field has a beautiful luminosity.
Beautiful polychromy.
An oblong ivory field, both serrated and multi-lobed, covered with floral stems, features a ruby-coloured rosette with an ivory-coloured centre and arrow-shaped pendants, the whole set against a backdrop of foliage. Four large turquoise spandrels, adorned with polychrome floral scrolls, embellish the whole. The frame consists of a turquoise border featuring a series of ivory cartouches and medallions with floral bouquets, flanked by two ruby counter-borders with garlands of small flowers. Highlighting in a chess-piece pattern. A fine example of originality.
