Description
A significant and magnificent SHOBI carpet,
Pakistan. Late 20th century.
Wool pile on a cotton backing.
An old gold field, dotted with floral scrolls and multicoloured corollas, is framed by a set of two pistachio-coloured counter-borders with garlands of small flowers, two further ivory-coloured borders with two-tone broken ribbons, all four flanking the main medallion with its broad, undulating, polychrome plant motifs. Great grandeur and beautiful poetry
