Iran. Mid-20th century.
Wool velour on a cotton backing.
A brick-red field features a delicate circular blue-tinged trellis, supporting blooming corollas in sky blue, old rose and anthracite at its cardinal points. These are interspersed with pastel star-shaped flowers with branched, flower-laden stems. The sky-blue border features a multicoloured plant garland, flanked by two ivory counter-borders with a series of polychrome florets. A fine example of Mina-Khani decoration.
