TRANSYLVANIAN carpet
Romania. Circa 1970.
Wool pile on a cotton backing.
A navy blue field features a scattering of multicoloured florets forming a mosaic-like composition. The border consists of a main ruby-coloured border with floral undulations, flanked by four secondary borders in old gold and sky blue, featuring garlands of small flowers. Accents in the form of chess pieces. A harmonious whole.
