Anatolia. Late 19th, early 20th century
Wool pile on a cotton backing.
A floral medallion in a brick-red and mouse-grey almond shape, with its matching motifs, is set against a wide, oblong ivory field featuring arabesques, which in turn rests on an anthracite field. The whole is covered with flowering scrolls and multicoloured plant stems. The frame consists of a main brick-coloured border with a scalloped edge, flanked by six polychrome sub-borders; all seven feature garlands of flowers. A beautiful pastel ensemble for this Armenian piece. (Minor signs of wear)
