East Asia. Third third of the 20th century.
Wool pile on a cotton backing.
An ivory-coloured central medallion, featuring a moulded floral design and surrounded by multicoloured stems and bouquets, takes pride of place in the centre of an elongated cream field with a highlighted border. A double frame in shades of purple and ivory, with a honeycomb pattern at the cardinal points, adorned with garlands, floral arrangements and polychrome vases, encircles the whole. Embellishments include pearl necklaces and outer ‘mouldings’ in antique gold. A beautiful and harmonious presence.
