Description
BAO-TAO carpet
China. Early 20th century.
Wool pile on a cotton backing.
This Chinese carpet depicts a lakeside landscape in shades of blue and ivory. Indeed, on the tree-lined banks of a lake, a traditional house and a pagoda can be seen, close to a footbridge. Meanwhile, a bridge leads us towards a fortified town, nestled in the shelter of high mountains. Greek-style frieze and a border featuring flowers arranged in a staggered pattern. Navy blue braid. A beautiful traditional design.
