Compulsory dispatch – Henri Matisse (1869–1954) (after) Christmas Eve, 1952, (1958) Lithograph published in 1958 by Mourlot Frères Dimensions: + Sheet dimensions: 36.5 x 26.5 cm / 14.3 x 10.4 inches. + Image dimensions: 33 x 13.5 cm / 13 x 5.3 inches. Taken from issue 35/36 of the iconic *Verve* Vol. IX, published by Tériade in 1958 under the title ‘The Last Works of Henri Matisse’. In very good condition, with vivid colours The most sought-after lithograph produced under Matisse’s supervision for a special issue of *Verve* devoted to Matisse’s paper cut-outs. These works were created by the artist using paper coloured with gouache, cut out with scissors and glued together. They are presented here alongside drawings executed at the same time or during earlier sessions. Matisse designed the cover especially for this volume. These lithographic plates were printed in 1954 under his supervision. The colour lithographs were printed by Mourlot Frères.
