GIEN. “Pont aux Choux – Grains de Riz” tableware set in fine ivory earthenware, comprising 16 dinner plates with scalloped rims. Marked on the reverse and accompanied by an explanatory note: “The great classic of the Pont aux Choux earthenware factory, situated in Paris near a bridge beneath which market gardeners used to grow their vegetables. This factory, famous in the 18th century for its ivory-coloured earthenware with relief decoration, was purchased in 1819 by Hall, the founder of the Gien Earthenware Factory".
