Description
SET OF DRAWINGS of gold and silverware – Paris, late 19th century
A rare set of drawings from the sale of the Tetards Frères firm in Paris. Executed in ink and brown wash over black pencil lines, with highlights in white gouache on tracing paper, these drawings reflect the preparatory work of ornamental designers and the commercial presentation of designs to clients.
Some bear the signature or monogram ‘J.C.’, whilst one of them bears a signature in the bottom right-hand corner, probably ‘J. CAMUS’.
Presented in bespoke frames.
Neo-Renaissance-style soup tureen and its base, decorated with tigers.
Brown wash over black pencil lines, with highlights in white gouache on tracing paper.
Visible dimensions: 22 × 28 cm.
Small stains.
