Silky wool pile on a cotton backing
Ivory field with a sky-blue latticework pattern, imitating the designs of the hanging garden parterres from theLouis XV period, creating a sense of depth; adorned with a central multi-lobed medallion in the form of a cartouche, emphasised by sinuous scrolls with gilded foliage surrounding a bouquet of roses and stylised polychrome foliage. Four spandrels decorated with finely drawn ram’s horns.
Border featuring sky-blue panels and compartments adorned with multicoloured floral bouquets. Counter-border featuring bronze-coloured axial rocaille shells—a hallmark of the Louis XV repertoire—and friezes of green laurel leaves.
