Note.
The art of crafting furniture from stag antlers has its roots in the hunting culture of the great Germanic forests. It was in the 19th century, driven by the Romantic movement and its idealisation of the wild, that this craft tradition experienced its golden age. Workshops in the Black Forest then established themselves as the most renowned centres of production, supplying hunting lodges and grand aristocratic residences throughout Central Europe.
