VERY FINE, LARGE AND ANTIQUE TEKKE BOUKHARA RUG (Turkmen, late 19th–early 20th century)
Wine-coloured field decorated with eight rows of three guhls (geometrically stylised elephant’s feet) surrounded by rows of guhls in the shape of stylised diamonds.
Border decorated with a mosaic of tarantulas and small stylised crabs.
Wool pile on a wool foundation.
Beautiful, silky wool pile of remarkable fineness.
(Good overall condition, with some restoration to the end kilims.)
