Note: A self-taught French painter born in Brittany, Armand Bouvier developed a figurative style marked by the influence of Fauvism. His style is characterised by a broad, spontaneous brushstroke, as well as the use of bold colours that give structure to the composition. He favoured a free interpretation of the subject, in which colour and light play a key role in the construction of the image.
