[Manuscript] Alexandre DUMAS, also known as Alexandre Dumas the Elder (Villers-Cotterêts, 1802–1870), writer.
“Events of the Night from Friday to Saturday”
A signed autograph manuscript intended for publication in one of his newspapers, such as *L’Indepediente* or *Monte-Christo*, whilst he was in Naples between 1861 and 1864.
An article in which Dumas gives his view on the arrest of two prominent Neapolitans, agents of King Francis II. The postal service had intercepted two letters from the King ordering the Duke of Cajaniello and Mr Trotta to stir up unrest and set fires in Naples. When the King’s agents attempted to carry out these instructions, they were arrested and taken to prison. Dumas points out that it is the party of order that resorts to riots, whilst the party of the Revolution strives to thwart them.
