Henri de REGNIER (Honfleur 1864–1936), writer and poet, associated with Symbolism. A collection of 27 signed autograph letters and 2 autograph visiting cards, most of which were addressed to Alfred Poizat (1863–1936), a man of letters who wrote one of the notable critical articles on Henri de Régnier, published in the journal *La Quinzaine* in February 1896, at the time of the latter’s appointment to the *Revue des Deux Mondes*. They sat together on the jury for the literary prize awarded by the Committee of Friends of Rémy de Gourmont, founded by Henri de Régnier following the death of Maurice Barrès in the 1920s. This correspondence reflects their friendly and professional relationship. In it, Henri de Régnier discusses his daily routine (“Do come and see me one of these mornings between 11 o’clock and midday, for before then I’m asleep like someone who goes to bed late and is finishing a novel” (March 1901)), his health concerns and those of his wife, his father-in-law, the writer José-Maria de Heredia, and his novel *Les Trophées*, the Académie française (“I found your letter on my return from Richepin’s funeral and I shall be very happy to see you in due course, that is to say when his seat is declared vacant” – “I have nothing favourable to say to you regarding your intention to stand for election to the Académie. It does not seem to me to be the right time, nor does it appear to me to have any real chance of success. I hold you in too high esteem and have too much affection for you not to express my opinion frankly”) but also Poizat’s works, such as his two tragedies *Antigone* and *Sophonisba*… The correspondence comprises 27 in-12 pages, often bearing the address, postmarks and a stamp on the reverse; a few show slight signs of damp. Enclosed are three signed autograph letters and a signed autograph visiting card from his wife, Marie de Régnier, also addressed to Alfred Poizat.
