Description
Georges Ferrato (born 1949) *Bosselé Landscape* Acrylic on canvas, signed lower right, countersigned and titled on the reverse 161 x 130 cm Condition report: Framed Born in Aix-en-Provence in 1949, Georges Ferrato shares with Paul Cézanne – apart from his hometown – a marked preference for geometric forms and a deliberately restricted colour palette. The comparison ends there, however, as Georges Ferrato has developed a unique pictorial language of his own. His works from the 1980s, such as the one we are presenting today, unfold in veritable whirlwinds of colour, where movement becomes the vehicle for emotion. The use of primary colours also draws parallels between his work and that of Jean Legros (lot no. 260). In his later compositions, created during the 2000s and 2010s, the free-flowing lines, delicate strokes and graphic style are more reminiscent of the world of Joan Miró, whilst retaining the artist’s own distinctive personality.
