She first entered the theatre world by designing stage sets, before becoming an actress. In the mid-1980s, she devoted herself entirely to painting. Having settled in Berlin in 1998, she developed a distinctive body of work there, drawing on her multifaceted artistic background. This 1989 composition can be linked to her early days as a theatre set designer. Indeed, the movement cues indicated by arrows, as well as the reference to Tchaikovsky’s ballet, seem to evoke a genuine stage design. The work conjures up a staged production featuring choreography, lighting effects and costumes, bearing witness to the enduring influence of the theatrical world on her painting practice.
