Marcellin JOBARD (1792–1861), Belgian journalist, lithographer and industrialist. Autograph letter, [Brussels, 23 May 1838], to Sergeant Lauclou in Ypres; half-page, quarto, address (minor repair). He returns his article to him, as it contains an error. In Lauclou’s articles, he has ‘removed the word “cafard” because of the newspaper’s modern tone; otherwise, I would have had a few more words to say to you. ‘People here don’t believe in Sergeant Lauclou; they take you for a pseudonym, as if a sergeant couldn’t write as well as a colonel!’”…
