Pierre DELEUSE (1725–1811), painter and set designer. P.A.S., Paris, 9 December 1780; 1 page, quarto, ink stamp of the Cabinet d’Hozier. Details of the ‘Paintings commissioned for Monsieur de Balainvilliers’ theatre [Charles Bernard, Baron de Ballainvilliers (1757–1835), councillor to the Parliament of Paris, Intendant of Languedoc in 1786] at his château near Lonjumeau’ in September 1780, for the comic opera *La Clochette* [by Egidio Duni], namely ‘a hut or thatched cottage’ and a grove, for the sum of 120 livres, plus the ‘journey by cabriolet’. Deleuse settled the payment for this account, reduced to 108 livres.
