Description
ALBERT THE GREAT (Pseudo-). *De secretis mulierum*. Also *De virtutibus herbarum, lapidum, et animalium*. Amsterdam, H. and Th. Boom, 1669. In-12, red morocco, double gilt rule with fleurons at the corners, decorated spine, marbled edges. This book, which has been reprinted many times, contains the two texts attributed to Albert the Great cited in the title, as well as Michel Scot’s *De secretis naturæ*. The work is generally considered apocryphal, writes Caillet, that is to say, it was probably written by Henry of Saxony, a disciple of Albert, rather than by Thomas of Cantimpré, another of his disciples. Title engraved on copper. The upper cap is missing. Caillet, no. 129 (edition not specified) – Guaita, no. 1657 (ed. 1655) – Ferguson, I, 15.
