Description
Rimbaud (Arthur) *Reliquaire*. Paris, published by Léon Genonceaux, 1891. 1 volume, in-12 format, (17.5 x 11.5), later binding, early 20th century, in full green morocco. Spined with author’s name and title in gold, gilt head. Unsigned binding. Spine somewhat sun-faded. Collated and complete. Covers preserved, without the spine. XXVII pp. – 152 pp. First edition, copy free from foxing, with the title page bearing the correct date, 1891, and complete with the preface by Rodolphe Darzens, the remainder of which was omitted from subsequent printings. Léon Genonceaux published ‘Reliquaire’ without Rodolphe Darzens’s consent, with a preface composed without his knowledge from notes he had left behind. The book went on sale in Paris on 10 November 1891, the day of Rimbaud’s death. A fine copy of this legendary collection.
