2 volumes, in-8°, later binding in full havana morocco, gilt framing on the covers, ribbed spine with gilt author’s name, title and volume number, all edges gilt on endpapers. Gilt roulette within a border on the inner covers, double gilt fillets on the edges, guilloché caps. (Joly binding) Ex-libris by Joly Bavoillot, engraved by Giacomelli, on both volumes; ex-libris by Raymond Claude-Lafontaine on the first volume. Spine very slightly sun-faded. Covers preserved and lined, without the spines. Collated and complete: Volume I: half-title title 411 pp., table of contents on the reverse; Volume II: half-title title 491 pp. Table of contents on the reverse. First edition, a very fine copy with full margins on fine laid paper, free from foxing.
