Description
Theuriet (André) *Les œillets de Kerlaz*. Paris: Librairie Conquet, 1885. 1 volume, in-12, full Empire green morocco, ribbed spine with gilt title and date. All edges gilt; colour watercolours depicting carnations in a vase set into the endpapers, attractively framed by gilt garlands and borders. (Bound by René Kieffer) and bearing E. Kieffer’s bookplate. Spine faded. The delicate mauve covers have been preserved, without the spine. First edition illustrated with four etchings by Rudeaux and eight headpieces and tailpieces by Giacomelli. At the end of the book, the copy is enhanced by a lovely, unsigned red chalk drawing depicting a reclining Cupid with his quiver.
