2 volumes, large quarto, bound in full red morocco with a cardboard slipcase covered in red percaline. Spine with raised bands, featuring a title label and volume number in green morocco, decorative ironwork in the panels, and a crowned numeral at the foot. Gilded head; front cover framed by a gilded garland depicting a hunting scene. Red moiré endpapers and a gilded garland framing the back covers. Binder: Arias Hijo, Madrid. Covers preserved without the spine. Copy number 99, printed for Monsieur de Villaine, a member of the Parisian Book Circle. A rare work, printed in a run of only 132 copies. In the second volume, in the form of a portfolio, there is a series of colour plate separations, numbered 5/15, as well as a paper folder containing: - 1 small folder containing two menus from the Parisian Book Circle, each with a woodcut by Mathurin Méheut on the cover, printed in black or bistre; the first, numbered 37/100, is dated 17 March 1927, the second, numbered 2/59, dated 29 March 1927. 1 large charcoal sketch in black and colour, unsigned, depicting fish. 1 colour gouache depicting woodland undergrowth, signed, though this appears to have been added later. 2 sheets containing around ten small drawings in black Indian ink, depicting mushrooms, chestnuts, flowers, etc. 5 original charcoal sketches, in black or orange, unsigned, which were used to create the woodcuts for the book. All of these unsigned originals are likely to be by Mathurin Méheut.
